My Writing Style is Extremely Chaotic [Jul. 9th, 2009|02:00 pm]
I have spent much of today coaching a first-time adventurer in the dark and musty realm that is Five Paragraph Essay Structure. It is a faraway land peopled chiefly by various tribes of Supporting Statements. These intrepid souls make their homes in thriving colonies of Paragraph Structure subsisting mostly on a robust diet of Constant Rephrasing and the odd feast of Metaphor or Wit, whenever available. They are a happy people and generally live in peaceful harmony with their neighbors and sister tribes: the Actual Ideas.

The Actual Ideas tend to live in smaller, more rigidly defined groups. Once there, they hope to find new, more austere neighbors, who think just as they do and don't get wrapped up in such flowery theatrics as Metaphor or Wit.

Terrible fighting will sometimes break out between the two clans but such events are usually swiftly resolved by whatever elected officials happen to be in charge of the burgeoning masterpiece. These are often such stalwart and time honored rulers as Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, Reason, and, occasionally, even Good Taste. Sad is the all too frequent occasion when a paper still in the midst of a bloody civil war finds itself cruelly and unexpectedly published.
